Please don't flash the ladies, oh ho ho . . . . These look like interesting people. Were they surprised you wanted to make their photo? The woman on the right looks like she's having a good laugh. I very rarely use flash, unless I'm making photos of people inside or something. Then I switch the camera to P mode and say, "Okay, Camera. Good luck, and I have faith in you."
Nice Marcus I hadn’t thought of ‘flashing’ them in that sense :)
There was a holiday atmosphere that morning- there must have been a couple of hundred cyclists and most everyone seemed ok with me pointing an OM-1 at them. I’ll definitely go back next year. Who knows I might even take my Nikon N80 - which I think has a built in flash that pops up. It’s AF too. Might actually be handy.... (I can’t believe I just wrote that lol)
Oh, and they look fantastic in their Causeway jerseys and with their hair being in perfect disorder, lovely smiles and what have we all. A flashy grain collector you say? That's new from that side of the parts of world, I must say! I almost had to look it up on the interwebmachine and everything, but then realized I got something similar myself as well, but nothing as fancy as a N80 of course! I think mine is named F-401 or something. And I think I got two of them useless things... and then I vaguely recall there might be a Canon EOS of some sorts as well hanging on a nail somewhere which may contain flashy bits on top. I'll put batteries inside (I can't believe I just said that...) and check them out at some point, and then I will be ready to fill flash in on lovely ladies at the NW-200 on a nice day if I ever get there. Or in the direction of some cool dude or something... but that sounds more odd, I know.
I pick up the N80 from time to time, as you do. Take a few shots and put it down again. I don't really like it at all, to be honest - I feel out of control. I started to read the manual once upon a time but I gave up - simply too many pages of stuff about menus and shooting modes and focus modes and other options about this and that. Just give me a camera with shutter speed, aperture and focus - that's all I want. Luckily I got a few like that ;)
That's exactly my view on these matters as well, as you quite well know by now. As soon as you need a manual to operate a camera you know you're on the wrong track. At least it's like that for me. I can pick up whatever camera I like from the pile and make it work straight away even though I never owned a manual for the thing. OK, they are a bit different and all that, but as soon as you have found out how to open the bloody thing, it's pretty much self explained after that point. Which is good of course, for an old dog like myself.
