Ballintoy Harbour

Picturesque Ballintoy Harbour used to be a favourite destination in the summer - it lies just past the Giant's Causeway on the Antrim Coast.  Nowadays famous for Game-of-Thrones filming, which of course means it's on the Tourist Map.  On a decent day in the middle of summer trust me, you don't want to be anywhere near it.

Looks like this was on the rangefinder with a 35mm lens, on HP5+ no doubt.  That would be Fair Head in the distance I reckon - some way past that gets you to Larne and then Belfast.
No, nowadays we get to Ballintoy very much out-of-season, when it's much more pleasant.  Must be time to go back there soon, I reckon.

  1. I must admit, it does look inviting.

    1. Ah now it's not bad spot to find yourself in, Andrea, I have to say. Sure maybe one day you and Eve can take your wee boat thing across the water and meet me there for a cuppa...

  2. Out here in Indiana we have a large concentration of wooden covered bridges, and most of them are in Parke County. Every October they host the month-long Covered Bridge Festival. The joint is packed with tourists.

I love Parke County's covered bridges. But I stay away in October!

    1. Wooden covered bridges, eh? Sounds interesting, Jim - as does the Festival. You could go but not go, I guess - just to take some snaps of all the people. But...perhaps you are right, not go might be best :)

  3. It looks absolutely wonderful, Michael!
The old trouble with over crowded tourists things to see over there as well, of course. I guess that Game of Thrones hype is a wee bit annoying, but nice to pick the fruits from for some people over there?!
It's more or less the same over here, of course, in the right time of the year. We live not to far from a few world heritage sites, which means we see some traffic through the summer months. Ona is quite nice at that time of year... :)))

    1. Thanks Roy - and you are right, GoT has been a Good Thing for Ulster, with tourists and things. They have GoT Doors, dotted around the place, which loads of people go to 'collect' - in other words, get their photograph taken next to. Great for the local economy, which, to be fair, needs a boost.

Ona sounds great at any time of year, to be honest.
