He’ll be missed.
Here's a phone snap of my favourite shots of Missy with him - from a fair few years ago. It hangs - along with several other prints of family and friends - in the smallest room of the house. Taken with a Yashica 35 GTN rangefinder down on Portstewart. Missy must have been in the water - and of course that means Roly was too. The Hound looks very regal in this shot - and looks much older than he was, but I think that's just due to his wet coat. If you look closely, you'll spot Missy's hand on his chest, which is the reason I'm so fond of this shot - the two of them snuggled up to each other.

I'm very sorry, Michael. It's always hard to lose a good friend. I wish you and your whole family blessings as you adjust to life without Roly.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jim. We try to think about the good times we had with him and the pleasure he brought to our lives.
DeleteI'm very sorry to hear about Roly. Missy and the rest of you must be beyond consolation.
ReplyDeleteIt’s been hard, Marcus. I still expect to see him when I come home, or just at my side. At least we were there for him at the end and he wasn’t suffering alone.
DeleteAn absolutely beautiful print of the two of them together there, Michael. Roly will be missed even over in Norway, I can tell you. I was scanning a few snaps taken not too long ago of our Border Collie Scot together with our grandson Rohan. Actually they made me think about your good old Roly for some reason. Life will of course be different, but then again at least he had a really good life living with you and your family. A beautiful dog he was for sure.
ReplyDeleteThanks Roy. He was indeed well loved and being with us while Missy grew up earned him a special place in our hearts. They are great family dogs, as I'm sure you (and Rohan!) know only too well.
