I’m not at home. For the next two weeks I’m holidaying in the Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases in Bath, getting stretched and hydro-therapied. All in the name of getting me a bit more able to cope with the rigours of everyday life while living with a chronic condition, namely ankylosing spondylitis. You might recall some shots of the old hospital from earlier posts - here, and here.
Unfortunately our new location is on the outskirts of the city, which is not quite so pleasant. There’s not much to do in the evenings other than chat to fellow holidaymakers and swap stories about our condition. Which is ok, actually. We’re sharing our accommodation with a group of people who are suffering from the side-effects of chemotherapy, which kind of puts things in perspective. They’re a remarkably upbeat group, truth be told.
I’m hopeful come the weekend I’ll be able to bus it into town and walk about with the Olympus mju I brought with me. Fingers crossed I’ll have both the energy and the will.
